Search engine optimization is a continuous process. Search algorithms keep changing frequently and so does the content on competing sites. This makes it necessary to for you to constantly optimize your site. Many website owners find it difficult to identify potentially major SEO issues. Here are some simple tips to help you find and fix significant SEO problems.

Duplicate content is one of the biggest optimization issues and this is one of the key aspects that we cover in our SEO training Canada sessions. Google Webmaster Tools offer a lot of information to tackle this issue effectively. A simple Google Webmaster Tools report will give you all the data on duplicate title tags. In order to take care of this issue in an organized manner, you can transfer the data to an Excel sheet and begin with the title tags having the highest number of duplicates. Because of the lack of unique title tags, important content may not be reflected accurately hampering your site’s organic search visibility.

Google Webmaster Tools also provides data on your website URL parameters through its URL parameter report. For every parameter on the list, you can specify if it changes the content or not and whether or not to ignore it. This can help the search engine crawl your website more efficiently. It is one of the best ways of reducing the negative effects of duplication. Another thing you can do is get a list of all the URLs on your website having temporary 302 redirects and convert them to permanent 301 redirects. Tools like Screaming Frog SEO Spider can make this task easier.
